Description
Domaine Dufaitre, Odenas, Beaujolais.
Côte de Brouilly is at 320ha one of the smallest of the crus from Beaujolais. It is an oval-shaped hill with vineyards at all points around it. Whilst most Beaujolais comes from soils of pink granite, the Côte de Brouilly’s soils are principally bluish, composed of diorite, an igneous rock of a bluish grey colour with a green cast, together with some schist and granite. Its wines are structured, mineral and ageworthy.
Sylvie Dufaitre-Genin’s 2014 wine is no exception. Now drinking really well, this medium to full bodied wine is complex and flavoursome, perfect with lamb and duck dishes.
